HC 259 · published 2026-07-09 · in force 2026-08-03

Graduate route dependant eligibility for UK-born children

Graduate

What changed

This amendment allows children born in the UK during a parent's current grant of Graduate route permission to apply as dependants. Previously, the rules only allowed dependants who already held permission under the Student route to apply.

Who the official source says it applies to

Graduate visa holders who have had a child born in the UK during their current Graduate permission. The child can now apply as a dependant and be granted permission in line with the parent.

  • applications made on or after 2026-08-03
  • applications made inside the UK
  • dependants

The source does not state the conditions precisely enough to be certain who is affected. Routewatch sends this as "may apply" to everyone on the routes above.
