Pay period salary compliance for Skilled Workers
Skilled Worker, Health and Care Worker
What changed
Skilled Workers must be paid the required salary in every pay period, not just across a full year. From 7 April 2026 the Home Office can raise an underpayment with the sponsor as soon as one pay period falls short, rather than waiting for a year of salary data. Nothing changes for workers who are paid correctly each period.
Who the official source says it applies to
All Skilled Worker and Health and Care Worker visa holders and their sponsors, from 7 April 2026.
What the official source says to do
Keep your payslips. If a payslip is below your sponsored salary for that period, raise it with your employer straight away; the rule now allows the Home Office to act on a single short pay period.
a worker must be paid the required salary in each pay period, subject to variations already permitted in the Rules.
